Congress venue
SQUARE
The Exhibition and most of the Technical Session of Acoustics ’27 will be held in the SQUARE, Brussels Convention Centre. The SQUARE is a listed historical monument, originally built for the 1958 World’s Fair and renovated in 2009 to offer comfort and state-of-the-art technology. It features spacious plenary halls and modular meeting rooms designed to host the largest international congresses. The SQUARE’s modernist heritage together with the unique artistic work of the renowned surrealist painters such as Magritte and Delvaux, will lend an aura of prestige to Acoustics ’27.
Located in the historic heart of Brussels, the SQUARE is connected to the Central Station and a short walk from many hotels and the city’s parks and cultural treasures. Surrounded by museums, grand architecture, and vibrant urban life, this setting will enrich Acoustics ’27 and provide a unique experience of Brussels.
Bozar
Located adjacent and connected to the SQUARE, Bozar (short for Palais des Beaux-Arts) is part of one of the first multifunctional cultural centres in Europe: it serves as a museum, a major cultural institution and a prestigious setting for concerts, conferences, seminars and exhibitions. This listed building was designed by the renowned architect Victor Horta in the Art Deco style of the 1920s.
Bozar’s prestigious Henry Le Boeuf Hall is renowned for hosting the international Queen Elisabeth Competition for musicians. Initially considered by Leo L. Beranek to be one of the best concert halls in the world in 1962, the Henry Le Boeuf Hall’s reputation gradually faded following renovations. In 2000, the hall was reopened after a complete refurbishment supervised by Professor Gerrit Vermeir and his team. Carried out with the utmost respect for Victor Horta’s architecture, the hall was completely revitalized and restored it to its former glory and remarkable acoustics.
The Henri le Boeuf concert hall was chosen for the Opening Ceremony and Plenary Sessions of Acoustics ’27. With two other halls recently renovated, Bozar will also serve as an exceptional venue for the Musical, Room, and Building Acoustics technical sessions of our congress.
